In this weekend course we will cover all of the sounds of the Sanskrit language. From this foundation, we will experience the articulation of these sounds as we pronounce the names of yoga postures and Sanskrit words often encountered in the study of yoga.
Through the use of our own voices, we will explore the Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali, the cornerstone of the study of yoga, as we learn to chant these profoundly enlightening aphorisms.
The essential meaning of "OM" will be explained through the Yoga Sūtras and the Māṇḍūkya Upaniṣhad.
We will explore cherished verses from the Bhagavad Gītā and other traditional Sanskrit texts as we learn to chant them.
Written materials will be provided. Bring your ears, your heart, and your voice!

Sanskrit grammar offers a beautifully clear structure as was recognized over 2,500 years ago. Every sound in Sanskrit produces a powerful vibration. When combined with other sounds they produce specific words and phrases. In this course you will learn the entire Sanskrit alphabet in conjunction with sources such as the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita, and mantras and verses from other traditional Sanskrit texts.
